Opening Casa Colorado has been a lifestyle change for the both of us, although it seems foreseen to follow our natural paths by doing so. Living in a remote place full of exceptional beauty, neither of us has been able to compromise leaving home day in and out to work. Not only does this include hours spent behind the wheel and heavy gasoline dependency, but it also detracts from the enjoyment of living where we live. Opening the B&B has been a part of a conscious decision stay home, be more sustainable, and work towards our passions!
Scott is a percussionist who spent the last 10 years touring Nationally with a band called the Motet. When not touring, he has been custom building our home, investigating ways to recycle materials, use alternative energy sources, and add some artistic flair. Also a potter and quite a homemaker, leaving the band provided the opportunity he had desired through those grueling years on the road – to stay at home. Now playing with a local Brazilian band called Sambadende, Scott is looking forward to continuing the evolution of our home, now Casa Colorado.
For Morgan, Casa Colorado represents the same possibility to stay home and dig into life passions and projects. As one of the Directors of the Nederland Sustainability Project, she has been working within the community to encourage local food production through high altitude gardening systems. A gardener and a chef, Morgan is excited to cook and bake for all of the guests, sharing the process from soil to plate with new flavors and creations made at home.
We also share our home with three malamute mix dogs: Che, Frida, and Dulce Vida. They are extremely sweet and love attention from people of any size, especially babies! We keep them busy outside and they love to be put on the harness to pull, training to be excellent ski joring companions!
This is a bit about who you will meet when you come to Casa Colorado. Whether we are in the garden, the kitchen, or the pottery studio, we are committed to improving our home and surroundings, continuing to green our space and fill it with art, good food, and beauty.
