As we transition out of pollen season, at least we can say that those clouds of marigold pine pollen make for some great sunsets! Who needs a television when you can watch an amazing sunset over the Continental Divide every night?
The days are getting hotter, and when we are lucky we have an afternoon thunderstorm. Our gardens are thriving with the new greenhouse structure and salads are fresh and bountiful! The strawberry patch is also going crazy and it's looking like it will be a delicious month. We have planted a lot of new crops and the great experiment to see what we can grow at 9200 feet is underway. Quinoa, eggplant, black kabouli and fava beans, apricot and plum trees are among the list of new crops for us. The way things are growing, we are looking to serve, store and enjoy tons of our own home grown food all summer and fall! Staying with us means dining on the most local and fresh food possible!
We hope that your summer is bringing the same joys of growth and creation!
Scott and I look forward to sharing these experiences with you. Until then,
Morgan

Outside the fifty foot greenhouse, completed this summer

Infloor radiant heating system coils throughout the soil to warm the earth in the cold months, keeping the soil from freezing and extending the growing season. This will run on its own solar system.

Inside the greenhouse, the plants are acclimated and and thriving. Swiss chard, lettuces and tomatoes are doing well and we are getting excited to taste the fruits of our labor!

Or new favorite resting spot - hammocks in the Aspen grove are sheltered from the sun and provide the perfect breezy resting place!
